Sunprints is an exhibition of work by 11 artists from the Spiral Gallery Cooperative and the KariYalla Indigenous Artists Cooperative of the Bega and Eden regions of NSW in partnership with Megalo Print Studio + Gallery. The prints are the result of a series of workshops conducted in February and April of this year with Sydney based artist Seraphina Martin. The project was funded by the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund and coordinated by south coast artist Annie Franklin. It is one of a number of recent projects that have fostered relationships between Megalo Print Studio + Gallery and various artists and community groups living and working in regional NSW.

Solar plate etching is a safe and non-toxic printmaking technique using sun and water to transfer images onto metal plates, which are then printed onto paper. This process has exciting potential for printmakers working outside major centers with limited or no access to the facilities and equipment of a printmaking workshop. The result is a vibrant collection of both photographic and painterly print works inspired by the artists relationship to their coastal environments..

Sunprints was exhibited at the Spiral Gallery and Bega Regional Gallery during May. Megalo Gallery is excited to be exhibiting the work from 16 - 30 August 2008 with the official opening on Saturday 16 August at 2pm.
