An exhibition by Megalo’s 2008 Printmakers-in-residence including Alison Alder, Sonja Barfoed, the Culture Kitchen, Al Munro, Jenny Peterson and John Priadi. Opens Thursday 2 April 2009 at 6pm and continues until Saturday 18 April 2009 in residence is an exhibition by Megalo’s 2008 Printmakers-in-residence including Alison Alder, Sonja Barfoed, the Culture Kitchen, Al Munro, Jenny Peterson and John Priadi. The exhibition provides audiences with an opportunity to see the innovative and exploratory print-based work developed in the Megalo Studios by these established and emerging contemporary artists. Each artist was awarded six weeks’ access to the Megalo facilities and a stipend to support the production of new work. The 2008 residents have made work that pushes the boundaries of print both conceptually and aesthetically. The work explores printmaking’s potential to act as a form of social and political commentary, investigates the print as a multiple and metaphor for the genetic profiling and manipulation of nature, and exploits the medium’s capacity to directly transfer found objects and their marks. The residency program is always a rewarding experience for both the artist and Megalo community, providing a place for the exchange of Ideas, printmaking skills and knowledge and opportunities to network. | | | |
