Lithography is both the art and science of printmaking. This workshop will serve as an introduction to lithography for beginners, or as a potentially new way of working for seasoned pros.

Adapting processes from Dwight Pogue’s “Printmaking Revolution,” students will learn how to hand grain aluminium plates for reuse, explore mark making techniques using both crayon and toner mediums, then process and print plate lithographs. Time permitting, we will also cover registration techniques for multiple plate colour lithography.

ABOUT THE TUTOR Tim Pauszek is a Western New York native, born and raised a stone’s throw away from Great Lake Erie in the Rust Belt town of Dunkirk, NY. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Alfred University in chemistry and interdisciplinary art and was employed there as the 2D technician in Drawing, Painting, Photography and Printmaking. He is currently undertaking a masters by research in fine art with a focus on printmaking at the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia, where he is a part of the collaborative print workshop Cicada Press. He is a printmaker, husband, and has a list of witty endings for artist bios saved in his phone.
