Want to get painterly with your etching?
Come along and learn white ground etching to achieve gestural brush marks and painterly like results. This workshop will cover numerous different approaches to using white ground in your etching practice. We will be working on a number of etching plates using both zinc and aluminium.
Suitable for beginners and experienced etchers.
ABOUT THE TUTOR:
Michael Bell is a Newcastle based artist who has been creating and exhibiting his artwork for over 40 years, he currently teaches printmaking at The Newcastle Art School. Michael has held 24 solo shows in Sydney and Newcastle and has participated in over 200 group shows. He has produced various t-shirt designs, graphics and posters for the iconic surf label MAMBO and ABC radio’s Triple J.
Michael has been a finalist twice in The Archibald Prize and four times in The Sulman Prize at the AGNSW, Sydney. His paintings have also been selected eight times for The Salon des Refuse at The S.H. Ervin Gallery.
