MEGALO INTERNATIONAL PRINT PRIZE


TERMS + CONDITIONS

  1. Entries must be submitted by Midnight AEST 31st July 2019.

  2. A maximum of three (3) works can be submitted by one artist with a fee of $45AUD for one entry, $75AUD for two and $100AUD for 3.

  3. The Megalo International Print Prize is open to all artists over the age of 18 at the time of submission.

  4. Submitted works must be classified as one of / or a combination of the following: Intaglio, Monoprint, Monotype, Relief (woodcut, linocut, engraving etc), Lithography, Screenprint/Silkscreen.

  5. Digital prints are ineligible, unless combined with one or more of the above processes such that the final print is predominantly produced using one or more of the above processes.

  6. Entries must be the original work of the entrant and have been created after January 2018.

  7. Due to the physical limitations of the gallery space, submitted works must fit within the following size restrictions: Two-Dimensional (2D) works can be no larger than 1.8 x 1.8 metres, Three-dimensional (3D) works can be no larger than 1 x 1 x 1 metre.

  8. All entries must be completed online, and must be accompanied by the appropriate fee, a CV (max. 1 page), and no more than two digital images of each work.

  9. Artists must provide a maximum 200 word artist statement in reference to each work submitted.

  10. Digital images must be provided as JPGS, minimum 300dpi, no more than 5mb. Images must be labelled Surname_First Name_Work Title_Year.

  11. Incomplete entries, or entries submitted past the submission deadline, will be deemed ineligible.

  12. Changes must not be made to the work once it has been submitted online.

  13. Current members of the Staff and Board of Megalo are ineligible to enter.

  14. A selection panel will determine the finalists and which of their submitted work will be shown in the Megalo International Print Prize exhibition. The selection panel’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

  15. Finalists will be announced in late September 2019 and then contacted via email to confirm arrangements for delivery of the selected work/s to: Megalo Print Studio + Gallery, 21 Wentworth Avenue, Kingston ACT 2604 AUSTRALIA

  16. The finalists’ prints must be received at Megalo Print Studio by 29 November 2019, unframed and without matte and must be clearly marked with the artist’s name and title of the work.

  17. The selection panel reserves the right to exclude from exhibition the work of any finalist if the print received does not appear to be of the same nature and quality as that represented in the image of the work submitted online.

  18. Selected work will be exhibited in the Megalo Gallery from 15th February – 28 March 2020.

  19. All selected works must be available for sale, with a price set by the artist during the application process. This price includes a 40% commission to be retained by Megalo.

  20. If the entrant has a professional agreement with a gallery or agent they must refer to their contract and consult with their representative prior to application. Megalo accepts no responsibility for the details in a contract between an artist and their representing gallery.

  21. Any selected works which are not sold during the exhibition period will be kept on consignment by Megalo Print Studio for 6 months unless agreed otherwise. While held on consignment the work will remain available for sale at the price set by the artist during the application process. This price includes a 40% commission to be retained by Megalo.

  22. During the exhibition selected works will be hung using magnets, or in the case of three-dimensional works, displayed on plinths.

  23. During the exhibition period the selection panel will view the works and determine the prize winners.

  24. During the exhibition period, exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

  25. Prize winners will be announced at a special event during the exhibition, with the following prizes being awarded: 1st Prize, $12,000AUD, 2nd Prize, $6,000AUD, People’s Choice Award $1,000AUD, Lerida Estate Acquisitive Prize $2,500AUD

  26. The Lerida Estate Acquisitive Prize, winning entry will become the property of Lerida Estate. To be eligible for consideration for this prize you must opt-in during the online application process.

  27. Lerida Estate reserves the right to reproduce the acquisitive prize-winning artwork on the label of a limited-edition batch of wine without fee, and without limitation, and use for the purpose of documentation, promotion and media coverage. The terms of and size of the limited-edition wine batch are to be negotiated between Lerida Estate and the artist.

  28. It is the responsibility of the artist to arrange for the return of their work.

  29. While all reasonable care will be taken, Megalo will accept no responsibility for damage to work during installation, display or dismantling of the exhibition.

  30. It is a condition of entry that finalists are willing to sign a ‘Confirmation of disposal of artwork’ form authorising the gallery to dispose of the work if the finalist has not collected or organised the return of their work within the collection period (exactly one year from the exhibition opening).

  31. The entrant warrants that they own the intellectual property rights in their entry and that any intellectual property rights and moral rights of a third party have not been infringed. Intellectual property rights of entries remain with the entrant as the copyright owner. It is a condition of entry that the entrant grants to Megalo without conditions, a perpetual royalty-free license to use, publicly display, publicise, reproduce the entry or part of an entry, including in electronic form and broadcast, for publicity, promotional, educational and administrative purposes associated with the Megalo International Print Prize.
