This year Megalo Print Studio celebrates 45 years of printmaking on Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri Country/Canberra!
Megalo Print Studio was founded in 1980 by a collective of artists and activists - including Alison Alder, Annie Kavanagh, Paul Ford, Julian Webb, and Colin Little - in a poorly ventilated tin shed in the suburb of Ainslie. Originally an initiative of Jobless Action, Megalo provided opportunities for unemployed youth, Megalo has since evolved into the largest open-access printmaking studio in Australia, supporting arts and communities for everyone and keeping the democratic spirit of printmaking alive.
To commemorate this milestone we have created a limited edition of tea-towels and tote bags that are available for pre-order! Pre-orders will be open from 6-20 May and the items will be available for local pickup or post in June.
