Inner Being brings together ten contemporary artists who question our relationship with trees as communicative beings, and traces of their presence in printed and sculpted matter or that connect with country. Meditations on a branch, an ancient piece of timber or an entire tree become tangible memory works that question our impact on these beings and our place within the nature-culture environments we inhabit. Our own temporary presence is amplified among the communities of old growth ancient paddock and forest trees. The Inner Being of the timber is investigated through tracing as a method to recall arboreal beings, connection to place and multi-species relationality, and the impact of human environmental destruction.
