SCREEN PRINTING ZINES

Monday, 13th July

A zine is a handmade mini-magazine, a creative way to share ideas, stories and artworks. In this workshop the group will work together to make a collaborative zine.

We’ll begin with fast, playful drawing exercises to get ideas flowing and hands moving. Then as a group we will choose a theme and fill the pages with drawings, combining everyone’s designs. Once we’ve curated our favourite artworks and designed the layout we will expose onto a screen and each participant will have the chance to screen print their own copy.

TETRA PAK PRINTING

Drawing inspiration from cityscapes, landscapes or any totally built environment, whatever you imagine that to be…  would you like to live amongst the fairies in Pixie Hollow? Or underwater in the lost city of Atlantis?

We will start by drawing ideas on paper, then guided by Megalo staff we will show you how to plan your idea and transfer it onto the Tetra Paks. This is a great way to try out a technique that gives similar results to Drypoint etching, which is a method of image making where a hard surface is scratched with a sharp point to produce a surface that holds ink where lines have been scratched. You’ll have the opportunity to print your plate on one of Megalo’s presses and leave with a collection of prints.

SCREENPRINT YOUR OWN CLOTHING

Wednesday, 15th July

Step into the shoes of a designer and create your own custom Jumper! In this workshop, artists will transform their ideas into bold, eye-catching designs. With guidance from Megalo printers, participants will develop their drawings and expose them onto a screen using the UV exposure unit. Participants will then print their designs onto their own jumper, learning skills that real designers use every day. By the end of the workshop, everyone will have their own custom jumper to wear proudly!
