Megalo Print Studio is calling out for a Part Time Technical Officer (6-month contract with possibility of extension) to provide technical support and assistance with daily operations at our Kingston studios. This is a great opportunity anyone with printmaking experience and a positive, hardworking attitude to join the Megalo team.

Position details

  • Base hourly rate: $27.08

  • Hours of work: 3 days per week including Saturday, 9am-5pm

  • Location: Megalo Print Studio, 21 Wentworth Avenue, Kingston ACT

Position duties and responsibilities

This role is responsible for supporting the technical and general operations of Megalo Print Studio, including member and user access, education programs, creative projects, and administration and customer service.

Duties for this role include:

  • Maintain equipment and facilities in safe and efficient working order and report faults or potential issues to the Studio Managers.

  • Maintain studios in a clean and orderly condition, and ensure studios and equipment comply with WHS standards.

  • Monitor studio materials and supplies and undertake inventory management as required.

  • Provide members and studio users with WHS inductions, and supervise the safe and orderly use of studios and equipment.

  • Provide technical assistance for members using studios and equipment.

  • Undertake material and equipment preparation for studio programs, classes and workshops, and general studio activities.

  • Support the delivery of education programs, classes and workshops.

  • Support studio managers in undertake commission printing and edition projects.

  • Assist with stock management for Megalo’s retail and storeroom operations.

  • Assist with exhibition installation, including use of power tools.

  • Carry out general administration and customer service as required for the daily operations of the organisation.

  • Assist with other Megalo activities or programs as required.

Please note that this role involves regular and frequent physical labour, including studio cleaning and the movement of materials and equipment.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Sound working knowledge and experience with printmaking techniques.

  • Sound understanding and appreciation of WHS principles and guidelines.

  • Capacity and willingness to undertake regular physical labour.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and passion for the arts, especially printmaking.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment and take direction from managers.

  • Ability to exercise good time management, organisational skills and prioritisation of tasks.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure Embraces people from all walks of life.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high level verbal and written communication.

  • Sensitivity for the needs of members while in the studios.

  • Capacity to work with respect and courtesy for all colleagues and members, with appreciation for diverse backgrounds and experience.

The successful applicant/s will undertake a comprehensive WHS induction before working in the studios, and will receive ongoing training in studio practices.
