MAY Print social: HOME, SWEET, HOME

Drypoint Etching using Tetra paks with Quinton Randall and Molly Kamenz
5:30pm - 8:00pm Friday 29 May, 2026

Join us for an evening of Drypoint etching and social printing at Megalo!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose? Would it be in Howl’s Moving Castle or the lost city of Atlantis? We are drawing inspiration for this month’s Print Social from cityscapes, landscapes or any totally built environment, whatever you imagine that to be…

Drypoint etching is a method of image making where a hard surface is scratched with a sharp point to produce a surface that holds ink where lines have been scratched. Working with recycled tetra paks (milk cartons) provides a cheap and fast means to produce images that is softer and easier to scratch than copper or zinc plates, providing a great introduction to the process.

This relaxed workshop is a great way to try out a technique that gives results similar to Drypoint etching. You’ll have the opportunity to print your plate on one of Megalo’s presses and leave with a collection of prints. Drinks and snacks will be provided, so come along and enjoy a fun, hands-on evening of making.

Materials: Participants will receive all materials needed for the printing process, one complimentary drink, and snacks will be available throughout the evening.

Suitability: This workshop is perfect for all levels. You don’t have to be a Megalo member to do this workshop and the price does not include membership.

Cost: $80 per person
